Damn the ear infection!!!!!!!
On the 26th of August I took Eric to see his PCP because of a runny nose that went a little longer then I thought normal. Well the Dr. checks out his ears, nose and throat and says nothing out of the ordinary is going on. I don't see any signs of infection other then some post nasal drip. I bring Eric back home with a bottle of Dimatapp for the bedtime stuff. About a week passes and sure enough Thursday night we are in the ER because Eric is walking funny and burning up with a fever and holding the right side of his head. We get to the ER and as I'm trying to get Eric out of the car seat his fever spikes enough to upset his stomach and he pukes like a champ. Poor kid. Luckily I caught it all in his shirt and was able to get his shirt off without him wearling all that nasty stuff all over his body. Had Josh bring me another shirt for Eric. Got into the ER had to wait a while because the ER was LOADED with broken people. The triage nurse gives Eric some tylenol we sit waiting to be called into one of the rooms. No sooner we get back there Eric vomits again and there goes the tylenol he was given by the nurse. They eventually give him a Phenegrin supository and then a tylenol supository. After he got the first he slept through getting the second. After a couple hours of being out for the count he woke up and the nurses wanted him to hydrate, then they gave him oral amoxicillin. Let me tell you that crap was sooooooooo nasty I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. It's been tearing up his stomach like no ones business. Today is the first day he's actually made any kind of attempt to eat anything and last night was the first night he's manage to drink enough fluids to soak through a diaper. It's going to continue to be a struggle to give him his meds for the rest of the time he needs to be taking them. I've tried to mask the stuff in milk and pudding and a couple other things and he's definitely got a sensative nose cause he can smell that stuff in the food/drink and won't eat or drink what ever it is with the meds in it.
